Delaire Graff Estate named Best Accomodation in South Africa – Best of Wine Tourism
A Continuous Pursuit of Perfection
The Great Wine Capitals Global Network founded ‘Best of Wine Tourism’ to recognise leading wineries and wine-tourism-related businesses that have distinguished themselves in areas such as innovation, service and sustainable practices. The Network aims to encourage travel, education and business exchanges between prestigious wine regions through awards which acknowledge aspects from art and culture to sustainability, and truly remarkable hospitality.
The regional awards for 2025, now in their 26th year, were announced on the 16th of October, 2024 and the global awards were further announced at the historic Gallerie Mercatali in Verona, Italy. This year’s competition attracted an impressive 644 entries, reflecting the growing importance of innovation and excellence in the wine tourism sector. Representing South Africa’s Cape Winelands and receiving the award on behalf of Delaire Graff Estate was Mayor for the Winelands.
“We are incredibly proud of our team for their pursuit of perfection in every facet of Delaire Graff Estate’s hospitality experience, in our vineyards and in our cellar. Awards such as this globally highlight the quality of South African hospitality and wine production. We are honoured to play a leading role in the creation of world-class wine tourism experiences here in Africa” shares CEO Jacolien de Villiers.
Implemented by the renowned David Collins Studio – who has worked with the Estate since its inception – and guided by the vision of Owner and renowned diamantaire Laurence Graff OBE, interiors have been reimagined and refined while honouring the original ethos and spirit of Delaire Graff Estate.
Interior architecture is simple in colour yet rich in texture to perfectly complement Laurence Graff ’s extensive collection of African art. Warm, comforting golden oranges, yellows, greens and natural textures reference the African sky, the Estate’s indigenous gardens and vineyards and the African motifs are paired with European touches. David Collins Studio consciously worked closely with local makers, artisans and artists, ensuring a spectrum of materiality which includes chiselled woods, stone and copper – as well as handwoven textiles. The result is exceptional; interiors are contemporary, aspiring, light and elegant – the epitome of quiet luxury while still grounded in the locale. While each space is distinctive, the excellent service for which the Estate is renowned draws every element together, ensuring guests feel relaxed, special and at home.
